Trees and
grasses now cover a former abandoned highwall reclaimed by the Princess
Polly Anna Coal Co.

The Princess Polly Anna Coal Company of Greenbrier County, West
Virginia, was awarded the 1999 West Virginia Reclamation Award. Princess
Polly Anna was commended for eliminating more than 700 feet of abandoned
highwall, planting a diverse mixture of hardwood trees, grasses, and
legumes, as well as improving water quality on the Little Clear Creek
watershed. Overall aesthetics of the area have been greatly enhanced. |
