| The Buffalo Coal Company in Grant County, West Virginia, was awarded
the 1999 West Virginia Reclamation Award. The company was commended for
its outstanding attention to detail in the mining and reclamation of
more than 107 acres of disturbed area with particular emphasis on water
quality and wildlife habitat near the environmentally sensitive old
Stony River Dam. The completed site is now ecologically superior and
compatible with natural conditions of that area. |
