Mica - Rock Odyssey Tour Guide
Mica
Tour Guide

Teachers tell us three things to prove this is a Great video:

1. Students are singing the songs in the hallway the next day;
2. This is the video the kids vote to watch again on the last day before summer vacation; and
3. Next year, when your new class is ready to study Rocks & Minerals, your students from this year will remember Rock Odyssey - the songs, the characters, and the content.

That’s effective teaching!

Rock Odyssey Poster
(16 x 23)

Helps students learn about the three major types of rocks (sedimentary, igneous and metamorphic) and how rocks are formed.

They help the kids learn about the three major categories of rocks (sedimentary, igneous and metamorphic), how each category of rock is formed, properties of minerals, and common types of rocks and their mineral makeup.

Children have always had a love affair with learning about rocks and collecting them. ROCK ODYSSEY will help to ignite the sparks of curiosity and excitement that each child has within himself.

This program was made with three objectives in mind.

The first is to show students how exciting the study of science can be.

The second objective is to get students to explore outside and learn about the rocks and minerals in their own community. Kids love the hands-on approach to life and Rock Odyssey will motivate students not only to search for rocks but also to touch them, identify then and have pride in knowing that the rock they found isn't just "any old rock." The rocks and minerals you see in Rock Odyssey are not museum quality samples. Most of the rocks and minerals shown in Rock Odyssey represent the type of samples that would be found by the students in their own neighborhood.

The third objective is to help teachers be able to classify the different types of rocks and minerals. We hope Rock Odyssey will help the teachers in answering that all important question that students will invariably ask . . . "Teacher, what kind of rock is this?"
