RECLAMATION SUCCESS

Foster Coal Mine

Operated by Wood Coal Company of Rich Hill, Missouri, the Foster Mine #2 was awarded an Honorable Mention by the Interstate Mining Compact Commission for its reclamation work on the former coal mine property.

During the active operations, a crew of half dozen was employed.  The reclamation work was completed by the Junior Wood family members, whose main objective was to put the land back in better condition than it was before it was mined.

Reclamation was achieved with proper working of the soil, proper fertilization and seeding, and special regard to pasture areas.  Current site conditions include water and wildlife habitat, pasture land, and undisturbed acreage.
