National
Stone, Sand & Gravel Association Environmental Eagle Award |

Materials Company, the Cherokee Quarry in Alabama was awarded the
National Stone Sand and Gravel Association’s 2003 Silver Environmental
Eagle Award. The Environmental Eagle Award was created in 1992 to
provide national recognition for aggregate-producing companies actively
contributing to the maintenance of the environment in and around their
operations, as evidenced by a corporate commitment to the full use of
environmental controls and systems.

The
Cherokee Quarry is also the recipient of the NSSGA Showplace Award, and is
involved in the Adopt-a-School program with Cherokee Elementary. Products
produced at the quarry include agricultural lime, asphalt aggregate, chemical
stone, concrete aggregate, and manufactured sand.
