| The Fox River Stone Company in South Elgin, Illinois, is a fully reclaimed area that
functions as an entrance and showroom for the active limestone quarry directly behind it.
The surrounding area is a rapidly developing residential community. Fox River Stone has
received numerous awards including the prestigious Pottawatome Garden Club landscape
commendation award, the Illinois Association of Aggregate Producers photo contest, and was
featured as the cover for a work entitled " How to be successful with zoning and
permitting: aggregate mining." |

| The pathways, erosion control linings, and retaining walls are all made from products
sold by Fox River Stone. The vegetation incorporates native prairie grasses and those
plantings, which are adaptable to the local area. The park-like setting is a pleasant
place for employee breaks and serves as the staging area for open houses and quarry tours.
This was voluntary reclamation that Fox River Stone chose to do to enhance the image of
the mining industry. They have done an excellent job of welcoming the community to their
front door. |
