Arch Coal Wetlands

Arch Coal Wetlands

Newly created water sources where ponds and wetlands are scarce attract water fowl, aquatic species and other wildlife to reclaimed mine lands, such as this site at Arch’s Mingo Logan Mine in Southern West Virginia. In total , Arch Coal has created more than 200 acres of new wetlands in Central Appalachia. The National Wild Turkey Federation and Ducks Unlimited have both recognized Arch Coal for its outstanding accomplishments in the establishment and enhancement of wildlife habitat on former mine sites.
